Barn Roof Repair
Here's a quick catch up post. Over the last couple of weeks we have repaired and stabilized the barn roof. I have to tell you, we had an enormous bat family/army move into the barn. You can imagine my dismay. They make these weird squeaky noises in unison. However, the new "appreciate-nature " side of me acknowledges the bats' contribution to the property. Every night, you can see them in swarms eating the mosquitoes. We really don't get too bit up around here. I've been researching bat houses. They sound like a lot of work. I'd rather compromise by allowing the bats to stay in the right side of the barn while I keep the left bat free. I think that sounds reasonable??? Anyways, after that long side note ... We have put flashing on the ridge of the barn roof to discourage any future bats looking for a nice place to stay. We (I.e. Mostly Roger and Rocky) patched all of the holes in the barn roof. It is significantly drier. Mission accomplished. Alex and I stopped up to supervise :). Good work, guys!!!

Tree Clearing by the 'WATERFALL'
We have been working on clearing limbs and trees by the dam. The roots are growing into the walls and damaging the bridge. Also, some limbs were putting our electrical lines in jeopardy. So, we spent a day taking them down! Check it out.

Remember that Ice Storm???
This winter was tough on everybody! We got hit pretty hard with the ice storm. I have never heard a scarier noise. It sounded like a scene from the Lord of the Rings when the huge pine trees snapped down. We are so thankful the house remained intact. However, the yard was a MESS! This was a huge problem when we were hosting our wedding here in a few short months. Thankfully, our family and friends came out one day to help us clean it all up. Here's a look at what it looked like before and after. The pictures don't even do it justice! We are hoping for an fairer winter this year!
