Wedding Grass
We have been working on the yard on the lower side yard of the barn. It was hilarious to watch me diligently try to water this thing. I am thankful for the break of rain. We will have a huge wedding tent on this yard then hopefully a swing set :). I love that this are wont be destroyed from construction. I can see a lot of family baseball games and football catches in our future :). Xoxo B

Vegetable Gardens (before and after)
Check out the progress of my veggie gardens. We had a bit of a groundhog problem, so we put up an electric fence. Needless to say, I am not a huge fan of Groundhog Day. Not so sure we will be celebrating it in my classroom this year!

Barn: Lower Side Reception Yard
So the major summer project has been preparing the lower side barnyard for the wedding reception next June! This was full of brush...you could barely hack your way through. We cleared, piped, graded, weeded, seeded, and added straw. We also found an old pipe that seemed to have broken, hence the marsh lands down that way. We diverted some of the water back to the pond, and the yard is totally shaping up! I even learned how to pop open the straw bales like a real farmer!
We had found an old foundation from a house. We think it is an old farmhand's house. Imagine my surprise when I walked down and saw a huge hole in my supposed to be wedding yard. Hmm....but we drained and added gravel to prevent sink holes.
This yard is going to be beautiful! Bonus: When it is done, it is an official forever play yard. No worries about construction vehicles coming through! Maybe a swing set down here?
Wall Flower Gardens
I have been terrible about keeping up with this blog! My apologies! But I have been taking pictures. I will definitely be starting the catch up process!
Here are some pictures of the wall gardens in the barnyard by the spring house. The first set are spring pictures. The second were taken more recently.
Marigolds are totally my favorite!
